  • Position Summary

    Assist the Dean of Students with overall supervision and operation of the Student Services division. Provide direct leadership for student services functions including: admissions/enrollment services, student records, Student Support Services (TRIO), advising, career services, and counseling services. Plan, recommend and monitor appropriate institutional budgets; work with staff to create a professional learning environment where students are encouraged and supported to excel.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assists the Dean of Students with overall supervision and operation of the Student Services division.
    • Provides leadership in the day-to-day operation of enrollment management and student support units of the College.
    • Designs, develops and operates student friendly departments within the enrollment management and student support units.
    • Assists in developing, enhancing and implementing a strategic student retention program for the college.
    • Assists with coordinating the planning and implementation of strategic enrollment management activities and initiatives.
    • Maintains appropriate records and files of matters related to areas of supervision.
    • Recommends staff committee assignments.
    • Participates in the college-wide planning process and institutional effectiveness of the College.
    • Assists with accreditation and certification processes.
    • Assists in the development, publication and enforcement of policies established by the College.
    • Prepares and regulates operational budgets for units under direct supervision; participates in annual departmental budget hearings.
    • Approves expenditures and monitors monthly budgets.
    • Supervises and evaluates staff in the performance of their duties.
    • Recommends new procedures to better serve students and streamline institutional processes where appropriate.
    • Consistently monitors and ensures compliance with all state and federal guidelines which pertain to student services functions.
    • Coordinates appropriate and timely professional development for staff.
    • Participates in pertinent local, state, regional and national organizations.
    • Represents the college at community functions.
    • Serves on college committees as assigned.
    • Supports and implements the mission of the college.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students, President, or designee.

    The Assistant Dean of Students will be expected to work a flexible schedule which may include day, evening, night and weekend hours.     Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Education, Student Personnel Administration or a related field.
    • A minimum of five years of documented college work experience in Student Affairs which includes three years of experience at an administrative level.

    None

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    • Ability to organize, coordinate, supervise, lead, and evaluate in a multifaceted, multi-campus, major functional unit of a comprehensive community college;
    • Ability to effectively use computers, multi-task, meet schedules, accommodate change, and participate as a key member of college administrative and executive committees and must possess excellent written and oral communication skills;

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • General office environment with the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods;
    • Ability to travel independently and navigate between multi-campuses;
    • Ability to lift, move, or transport independently up to 50lbs;
    • Ability to climb a ladder and/or step stool, bend, stoop, kneel, etc.,
