OVERVIEW
The Laundry Worker performs the activities of the Laundry department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the facility, to ensure that the Laundry department is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner, and that adequate laundry/linen supplies are readily available to meet the daily needs of our residents.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
· High school graduate or GED.
· Some experience working in a laundry
TRAINING
Required:
· Receive on-the-job training, as well as participate in ongoing education pertinent to the position.
FUNCTIONS
The essential functions of the job are based on the duties the person who holds the position will be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations.
ESSENTIAL
· Report to supervisor all complaints and concerns made by residents, families, visitors, agencies, etc.
· Perform assigned tasks in accordance with policies and procedures and as instructed.
· Comply with established standard precautions and isolation procedures, follow established safety regulations and report all incidents, accidents, hazardous conditions, or equipment.
· Attend and participate in department meetings and inservices, monthly all staffs, on the job training programs and others programs, workshops or inservices as offered.
· Sort soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc.
· Perform tasks such as folding and delivering residents’ laundry on a daily basis.
· Load and empty washers and dryers.
· Arrange clothes on racks in a numerical sequence and prepare them to be delivered.
· Sweep and mop floor.
· Pick up residents’ clothing to be marked when first admitted into the facility. Then return to the resident's room within 24-hour period.
· Minor mending or sewing as necessary, or when requested by the supervisor.
· Assist Nursing staff with cleaning out residents’ closets.
· May be required to change work hours or day of work as necessary to maintain adequate completion of all work tasks.
· Will be cross‑trained to work in the Housekeeping Department and be available to cover for extended illnesses.
· Understand the “Right to Know” regulation.
