As a Forest Carbon and Climate Manager you’ll be
responsible for tracking current research and practices pertaining to forest
carbon monitoring, accounting, and reporting. In this impactful role, you’ll serve as a subject matter expert on
carbon accounting, supporting operational decarbonization efforts across all US
bioenergy facilities.
Drax aims

About the
Role
As a Forest
Carbon and Climate Manager you’ll be responsible for developing the Drax US
approach to land sector GHG emissions accounting, development of lifecycle
analysis (LCA)-based approaches to assessing the forest carbon impact of biomass
and other forest products, and the tracking of the climate change science.
This position
will support Business Units in delivering carbon reduction plans, assisting
with collection, analysis, validation, and presentation of carbon data.
You’ll
work closely with the Drax Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) development
team in the US, ensuring methodologies used for pellet production is aligned
with those used for BECCS and the broader DRAX group.
You’ll ensure
the Drax US approach to climate change is in accordance with best science and
industry practice and is aligned to carbon and climate change reporting across the
Group.
About You
You’ll
have extensive knowledge of Life Cycle Analysis and carbon monitoring,
modelling and accounting methodologies relevant to biomass and bioenergy. This
will include estimation of direct and indirect land use change emissions,
counterfactual modelling, approaches for calculating forest carbon emissions. Ideally, knowledge of corporate emission
reporting standards (e.g., GHG protocol) and voluntary carbon market standards
will be essential.
Your
experience in handling and interpreting carbon data using data processing
software would be advantageous.
You’ll possess a
strategic and creative mindset, and have the capability to develop and
maintain working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
You’ll have the ability
to interpret and simplify complex information to audiences with diverse
backgrounds.
We are looking for candidates to be currently based or open to
relocate to one of the following US states:
Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Texas.
You’ll travel to Drax offices and attend
relevant off-site meetings and workgroups as necessary with regular travel
around US and potential travel to Canada and the UK.
This role requires some travel
between our sites in the United States. However, we are deeply committed to
ensuring you have the flexibility you need to do your best work, whether that’s
at home or in an office.
