Being a Forest Aide educates visitors on forest policies and regulations. Requires a high school diploma with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Forest Aide has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Position Description:
Student Trainee Law Enforcement Officer will be assigned to shadow and assist a full-time sworn USFS Law Enforcement (LE) mentor. Student Trainee will learn about the duties, responsibilities, and actions of a USFS LEO. Student Trainee must be physically fit and capable of working in both nighttime and outdoor conditions. Student Trainee will have the opportunity to spend time with various disciplines within the agency.
Responsibilities:
Become familiar with land features and recreation areas
Develop a clear understanding of the daily responsibilities of an LEO
Assist in various duties and tasks assigned by the mentor
Participate in physical activities such as hiking, running, and walking
Qualifications:
Major studies relevant to this position are Criminal Justice, and Natural Resources
Student Trainee must pass the FLETC Physical Efficiency Battery test at the 25th percentile, a background check, and drug test at the time of selection. Recent graduates are eligible for this position.
Candidates must have completed a bachelor's degree at a minimum before any potential conversion.. Any conversion placement assignment location will be determined based on the needs of the agency within the United States.
The ideal candidate should possess qualities such as being outgoing, socially capable, and mature. They should demonstrate the ability to think effectively under stressful situations.
