    New Jersey Conservation Foundation is seeking a full-time staff member to join our team as a land protection coordinator. This entry-level position will work with existing land protection staff to preserve natural lands and farmland throughout northern and central New Jersey.

    The successful candidate will work closely with seasoned land protection specialists, learning the fundamentals of preserving farmland, open space and greenways in New Jersey through firsthand experience. The position provides a motivated individual the opportunity to learn the nuts and bolts of land preservation work, including identifying and evaluating potential projects, engaging and negotiating with landowners, securing public and private funding, engaging contractors and reviewing deliverables such as contracts, surveys, appraisals and environmental reports and enlisting and mobilizing partner organizations to achieve mutual preservation goals.

    NJ Conservation Foundation stewards thousands of acres of land and easements, and advocates for land use policies and programs that protect and enhance New Jersey’s natural resources. As an organization that is committed to professional development, NJ Conservation Foundation encourages new staff to participate in day trips and field days with both policy and stewardship staff. NJ Conservation Foundation also provides staff with traditional training opportunities at educational conferences such as the annual Land Trust Alliance Rally.

    Qualifications include strong computer skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to learn and adapt quickly, creative problem solving, a strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for NJ Conservation Foundation’s mission of protecting land and natural resources for the benefit of all. A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy or a related field is also a plus.

    The annual salary range for this position is $40,000-$45,000. We offer a competitive benefits package, including paid holidays, vacation, sick time, and personal time, health insurance, life insurance and a 401k plan.
