Join our team as a Planning/Roads Forester within the Southern Timberlands Business, operating in the Carolinas/Virginia Region! As a Planning/Roads Forester, you will be responsible for harvest planning in eastern North Carolina, meticulously crafting annual and 3 to 5-year fee harvest plans that seamlessly align with area silvicultural and harvest strategies. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports directly to the Region Planning & Inventory Manager, and is based in Vanceboro, NC.
As a Planning/Roads Forester, you will champion safety and risk awareness, which includes intervening when unsafe practices arise and serving as a model of safety for others. You will demonstrate expertise in timber management techniques, overseeing tract preparation activities with precision—from validating harvest candidates and crafting prescriptions to addressing environmental concerns to marking stream boundaries and cruising. Your adeptness in managing SFI-related constraints, such as opening size and adjacency, will be invaluable. This role enjoys a significant portion of time in the woods.
In this multifaceted role, you'll manage yearly contract budgets, foster seamless communication between marketing, harvesting, and silviculture foresters, and oversee the maintenance of existing forest roads to meet safety and environmental standards, enabling operations to thrive in diverse weather conditions. Effective contractor management will be central to your success.
What We Offer
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $56,547 - $100,055 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
