    Job Summary:
    This is an instructional support position responsible for assisting the certified teacher with general clerical/administrative tasks, guidance, direction, and educational leadership of students placed in LiFT’s integrative educational program. The teacher assistant is expected to understand and implement the use of curriculum, instruction, academic and behavioral accommodations, assessments, and improvement models established by the certified teacher to maximize the educational achievement for all students; work collaboratively to ensure a working and learning climate for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful of diversity.

    Reports to:
    Classroom Teacher Assistant works under the close supervision of the Classroom Teacher and reports to the Principal
    LiFT Academy.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education, Experience and/or Knowledge

    • Education: o Associates Degree from an accredited college or university; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. o 48 hours college credit or 3 years' experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
    • Experience: o Experience in the following disciplines: Clerical/Administrative Operations, Student Management,

    Behavior Interventions, and Instructional Strategies o Experience in curriculum implementation and accommodations for special education students. o Experience with and implementation of Service Plans preferred.

    • Knowledge: o Knowledge of various educational disabilities preferred. o Knowledge of character education/social skills development.

    Monday-Friday: 40 hours/weekly o Ability to provide direction to students and make independent judgments, keep and maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds.
    Interpersonal Skills o Treats others with respect, keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and principles, and upholds organizational values. o Keeps emotions under control, remains open to others' ideas and contributes to building a positive team spirit. o Demonstrate the ability to actively listen, negotiate, and influence.

    Communication Skills
    o Demonstrates a command of Standard English verbally and in writing. Uses proper enunciation and has clarity of oral directions with pace and precision in speaking. o Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from school personnel, parents, students, and the community. o Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret professional and other written material. o Can write and speak in a logical and understandable manner, using appropriate grammar and sentence structure.

    Mathematical Skills
    o Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
    Computer Skills o Strong knowledge of computer usage and ability to use standard software. o Strong ability to proficiently use the following programs: Ren web (FACTS SIS), Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams. o Ability to type accurately and proficiently.

    Reasoning Ability
    o Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and materials either written or oral.

    Other Skills and Abilities:
    o Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with frequent interruptions. o Possesses strong organizational skills and reflects the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

    • A valid Florida Driver's License is required.
    • Successful Completion of a State and Federal FDLE Level 2 Background Screening.
    • Must attain CPR and First Aide Certification within 30 days of employment.

    Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

    Key Area #1: Accountability;
    The Classroom Teacher Assistant is a core member of the school and the classroom and is accountable to the team for performance, planning, and intervention strategies.
    Key Area #2: Instructional Responsibilities;

    • Team members (Teacher and Teacher Assistants) roles are clearly delineated and effectively carried out.
    • Teachers Assistants will assist with administrative and instructional classroom management tasks 5 days per week. (Tasks to include but are not limited to: preparing planned instructional materials, attendance reports, class reports, collecting and accounting for monies, and maintaining supplies and equipment for classroom use, supervising during extended day, part of the security team...)
    • Upon the Classroom Teachers absence, the Teacher Assistant will act as the Teacher’s Substitute and implement the integrative and instructional lesson plans that are congruent with the Florida State Standards provided by the Classroom Teacher.
    • Assists with the preparation, administers, and corrects assessments, and records results.
    • Utilizes appropriate technology and software to support instruction.
    • LiFT Support Plan goals, accommodations/modifications are fully implemented as applicable.
    • In conjunction with the Classroom Teacher, the Teacher Assistant will participate in the eligibility determination process by assessing the student’s educational, social, and behavioral needs.

    Key Area #3: Classroom, Student, and Behavioral Management;

    • Assists to maintain a classroom that recognizes respect for both teacher and student; motivates students in an atmosphere of respect and freedom.
    • Assists to maintain a clean and presentable classroom environment. Clean Classrooms Daily (Take out trash, wipe down surfaces, etc.). Assist to decorate the classroom as instructed by the Classroom Teacher.
    • In conjunction with the Principal of LiFT Academy, Behavioral Guidance Counselor, Classroom Teacher and individually assigned Behavioral therapists, assist with the management and implementation of various behavioral management strategies and utilize adaptive equipment as provided.
    • In conjunction with the ITSO and Classroom Teacher, assist to establish and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment. Teachers Assistants will participate in and train students on emergency procedures.
    • Participates in on-going student supervision in the classroom.
    • Teachers Assistants will also ensure the safety of our students by participating in morning and afternoon duties assigned by the Leadership Team.
    • Lunch Duties: o Assist students in making their mealtime as pleasant and rewarding as possible and ensure compliance with health, safety, and school rules and regulations. o Assist with routine mealtime problems. o Assure tables and floors are free from food and paper at the completion of the meal. Coordinates student volunteers in cleaning and washing tables. o Maintain order; note those not observing rules and report them to an administrator.
    • Escorts students to classes and specialized functions. May remain in specials classes daily.
    • Uses appropriate classroom management techniques to meet the needs of the student and the group.

    Key Area #4: Regulatory, Document, and Records Management;

    • Takes attendance daily and ensures it is input into FACT SIS no later than 8:30am each day.
    • Assists to keep grade book up to date. Grades and comments must be input into FACTS SIS each quarter for each student’s report card.
    • When assisting in the determination of eligibility for a child to become a student of LiFT Academy the teacher must provide their report to the principal no later than 2:00pm on shadow day. Assist as requested.
    • Teachers Assistants are considered mandatory reporters for abuse, neglect and exploitation.
    • Teachers, in conjunction with the Leadership; Team, are responsible for recording behavioral observations, crisis interventions, functional behavior assessments, and skill-streaming and behavioral intervention plans in a thorough and timely manner. These reports must be entered into FACT SIS daily. Assist as requested.
    • Teachers Assistants are required to respond to all email correspondence within 24 hours of receipt and check their physical mailbox daily.

    Key Area #5: Professional Development;

    • Will participate in all in-service and professional development activities offered. when not assigned to superivse elsewhere. Online and off-campus opportunities may become available.
    • Certification and continuing educational requirements are met.
    • Completes mandatory reading on relevant topics as assigned.
    • Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification

    Key Area #6: Additional Expectations:

    • Participation in re-enforcement activities such as specials, club, etc.
    • Participation in behavioral interventions such as after school and Saturday detentions.
    • Professional dress attire.
    • Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
    • Evening and Saturday hours as required due to activities, meetings, and events.
    • Participates on committees as needed.

    Terms of Employment:

    • Employment with LiFT Inc. is At Will
    • Work Basis: Monday through Friday 40 hours/week. Days and Hours may vary.
    • Regular attendance; 100% onsite; strict adherence to work schedule.
    • Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with LiFT’s approved compensation plan.
    • Performance Evaluations are conducted 2 times per school year at minimum.

    Travel:
    Some driving as required.
    Some travel may be required.
