We are seeking a Certified Nurse Assistant. This position is located at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing assistance to the professional staff. Delivers direct care to patients (bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, etc.) as directed by the RN or LVN in charge. Follows all departmental policies and procedures as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Adheres to the facility's Core Values and mission with complete regard for the dignity of each person.

Duties:

• Bathing; dressing
• Feeding, pass and pick up food trays; serve nourishments; keep records of intake and output
• Transfer to and from bed or chair or other locations within facility
• Assist to and from toilet, assist with any toileting needs
• Keep incontinent patients clean
• Monitor and record bowel movements
• Pass and empty bedpans, urinals, and emesis basins; collect specimens such as urine, stool, and sputum
• Reposition patients in bed or chair
• Assist with personal hygiene and dental hygiene
• Assist in ambulation
• Make beds; change linens
• Answer call bells and make rounds
• Provide post mortem care
• Take and record vital signs; take and record height and weight
• Record activities of daily living on flow sheets
• Observe residents and note physical condition, attitude, reactions, appetite, etc.
• Use safety devices and standard precautions to prevent the spread of infection and disease
• Evacuate patients in an emergency, according to fire and evacuation policy

Qualifications:

• A diploma certificate of training from a Nursing Assistant school or program instruction
• Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) prior to performing any work

Other Qualifications:

• Shall be a United States Citizen
• Shall not have been convicted of a felony
• Shall be able to read, write, and speak English
• Shall be able to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Explorer, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. so as to efficiently create and/or utilize an Electronic Medical Record

Experience:

• A minimum of one-year experience within the last two years working as a full-time nursing assistant

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day
• Must be willing to work over time if necessary
• Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet
• Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders
• Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print
• Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear
• Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment
• Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation
• Must undergo urine drug testing

Pay Range:

• $18.00-$22.00 / per hour.
• $0.83 Night shift differential.
