Foundation Director directs the execution of the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Defines the goals and tactics for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Foundation Director represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Foundation Director oversees grantmaking operations, including developing grant guidelines, reviewing grant applications, and managing the grant evaluation process. Manages foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values. Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's grantmaking and programs. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Foundation Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Foundation Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is part of the KIPP national network.     In the 2024-25 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 3,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.

    • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 4th grade, 6th - 8th grade
    • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
    • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
    • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade

    For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

    • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm
    • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm.

    Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

    Job Description

    Title: Director of Facilities
    Team: Shared Services Team
    Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
    Location: Regional Offices in Jacksonville, Florida
    Position Type: Year-Round; Salaried

    This position will be based in our regional offices in Jacksonville, FL.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Director of Facilities oversees the physical upkeep and maintenance of all KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools buildings and properties. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). It requires significant collaboration with school leaders and the Assistant School Leader of Operations as well as peers throughout the KIPP Jacksonville regional team. The Director of Facilities also acts as a key KIPP liaison to the Duval County Public School System regarding school safety and compliance.

    The Director of Facilities sets facilities standards and works with regional leaders to develop long-term capital improvement plans and annual capital projects to meet these standards. The Director of Facilities supports regional operations teams with vendor selection and procurement, ensuring compliance with local laws, acquiring all necessary materials and approvals, and overseeing the projects.

    The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep passion for social justice and educational equity for all children, and clear school-based or regional operations leadership experience that oversees critical operational areas for the organization.

    The DoF manages the facilities tech team, the custodial teams, and all vendor relationships, across all four campuses. The DoF will build and engage a plan to hit school-based operations goals aligned to custodial, building cleanliness, and other facilities metrics. The DoF also works closely with school teams and the COO to assist with moving into new buildings and opening new campuses that allow the organization to continue to grow.

    The DoF is a full-time role on the Shared Services Team which oversees four schools currently and is actively planning for growth in future school years. As a member of the Shared Services Team, this individual would be responsible for doing whatever it takes to ensure that students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths they need to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond.

    This position is year-round and performs duties as assigned by their manager. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but vary for this role based on the season. Some travel to community events during/after normal business hours would be required.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES

    Managing Others

    • Lead the facilities team members to oversee all building maintenance, service, etc.
    • Lead the KIPP Jacksonville custodial team by managing a robust team of sanitation team members responsible for school and office cleanliness
    • Manage in-house ticketing system that assigns tasks and issues to specific roles for excellent customer service responses
    • Meet regularly with each school-based Assistant School Leader of Operations to monitor progress toward goals on critical deliverables
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with school-facing vendors and contractors
    • Together with the COO, develop a strategic vision for a growing operations team that supports long-term growth

    Design and Maintaining Systems

    • Design, update, and maintain internal operations systems that allow the organization to continue to grow. These systems include school space needs, construction projects, moving projects/timelines, custodial ticketing systems, and compliance with vendors.
    • Manage the operational facilities budget
    • Build and manage short/long-term maintenance plans across the region
    • Set up region-wide compliance systems as it relates to mandated drills
    • Set up region-wide systems for keys and building/campus access
    • Work to centralize best practices via playbooks and toolkits
    • Drive efforts for greater efficiency as we grow
    • Other duties, as assigned

    COMPENSATION

    • Pay is commensurate with experience. The starting salary for this role is typically $67,000.

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the education or non-profit setting

    HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience with school-based or regional operations in a non-profit charter setting
    • Experience with facilities management
    • Master’s degree
