Foundation Director directs the execution of the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Defines the goals and tactics for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Foundation Director represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Foundation Director oversees grantmaking operations, including developing grant guidelines, reviewing grant applications, and managing the grant evaluation process. Manages foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values. Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's grantmaking and programs. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Foundation Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Foundation Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Richstone Family Center (RFC) is dedicated to preventing and treating child abuse and trauma; strengthening and educating families; and decreasing violence in families, schools and communities. Since 1974, RFC has established itself to provide comprehensive services that include: trauma focused treatment and therapy, crisis intervention, group support facilitation, parenting and anger management classes, home visits, psycho-educational and self-esteem building workshops, and youth academic support programs.

    We are in search of a motivated Director of Foundation Relations to help lead our fundraising efforts, primarily focusing on grants. The ideal candidate will possess a solid track record of successful grant writing, cultivating relationships with diverse foundations, and overseeing efficient grant tracking and management processes. This role involves proactive research to identify viable foundation and corporate grant opportunities that align with our organization's long-range strategic plan goals and resource requirements. The Director of Foundation Relations will stay informed about policy trends and evolving developments in grant funding for programs, general operating support, and capacity building. This is a hybrid position.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    GRANTS

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive grants strategy, leveraging expertise in grant writing and relationship building with foundations, corporations, and other funding entities with typical grant amounts ranging from $5,000 - $75,000.
    • Actively research and assess the feasibility of various foundation and corporate grant opportunities in alignment with our organization's long-term strategic goals and resource needs.
    • Oversee the end-to-end grant lifecycle, including prospecting, application development, submission, tracking, and reporting to ensure compliance with grant requirements. Implement and manage a comprehensive grant tracking and management system to streamline prospecting, Letter of Support (LOS), proposal, and reporting processes.
    • Interface with finance and program staff to guarantee adherence to grant guidelines and achievement of established goals.

    RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

    • Cultivate and maintain strong and strategic relationships with family, corporate, and private foundations to enhance grant opportunities, ensure continuous support, and advance the agency’s mission and goals.
    • Provide relevant updates and communication to foundations during grant periods to demonstrate program impact.

    POLICY AWARENESS AND TRENDS

    • Stay updated and well-informed about policy trends and developments pertaining to grant funding, including support for programs, services, general operating expenses, and capacity building.
    • Transform this knowledge into practical insights that can inform our grant strategy and proposal development process.

    COMMUNICATIONS & EVENTS

    • Provide support for Richstone’s fundraising activities in collaboration with the team to enhance fundraising initiatives.
    • Assist in external communications efforts as needed, ensuring consistency and alignment with Richstone's mission and messaging.

    Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
    • Strong understanding of philanthropy, nonprofit operations, and social impact strategies.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and reports.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and with diverse stakeholders.
    • Strong strategic thinker that is adept at prioritizing and seeing complex projects with diverse stakeholders to fruition.
    • Proven expertise in researching and securing grants from foundations and corporations, including a track record of successfully obtaining grants totaling $25,000 or more.
    • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets of over $750,000 annually.
    • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience working with diverse populations (language, culture, race, etc.).
    • Strong time management and coordination skills; enthusiasm for team building; a sense of humor and the ability to juggle multiple goals and priorities.
    • Flexibility with days and hours as needed to attend certain events and activities.
    • Additional skills include: excellent planning and time management skills; strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively; strong conceptual, organizational and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Database CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge, and the ability to develop spreadsheets and graphs highlighting critical data.
