Foundation Director directs the execution of the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Defines the goals and tactics for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Foundation Director represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Foundation Director oversees grantmaking operations, including developing grant guidelines, reviewing grant applications, and managing the grant evaluation process. Manages foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values. Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's grantmaking and programs. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Foundation Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. ASSISTANT ATHLETICS DIRECTOR - STEWARDSHIP AND EVENTS

    Responsible for activities assigned by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at West Virginia University with a focus on planning and coordinating all athletic donor stewardship activities, special events, and communication for the Mountaineer Athletic Club.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Plan, direct and execute all benefit related special events, hospitality, and recognition programs, and other special events as assigned including, but not limited to, programs held concurrently with athletic contests at WVU or opponent venues, the Coaches' Caravan, sport specific events, etc.

    Develop and execute a communication plan for annual, leadership annual, major and planned giving segments.

    Ensure all sport specific, major, and planned gifts received by the Mountaineer Athletic Club are acknowledged and that appropriate benefits are administered.

    Develop and manage all sport specific giving programs, scholarship dinners, auctions, golf outings, virtual events as well manage the WVU Women Supporting Athletics annual giving memberships and events.

    Direct stewardship efforts for all sport specific, Almost Heaven Society and Jerry West Society gifts by working directly with the Mountaineer Athletic Club staff, coaching staffs and administrative support teams for each varsity sport program, as needed.

    Ensure data input and tracking for Almost Heaven Society and Jerry West Society gifts in Paciolan ticketing/donor software system.

    Develop and maintain a calendar for all special events, communication and fundraising activities.

    Develop promotional brochures, marketing materials and other written materials in support of fund-raising efforts for planned gifts, endowments, and sport specific programs.

    Assist the WVU Varsity Club with all special events and recognitions.

    Provide direction and supervision to the Associate Director of Development-Leadership Gifts and Special Events, Graduate Assistant, and Interns who assist with the planning and execution of special events and stewardship.

    Assist in the coordination of direct mail solicitations, including developing the mailing lists using WVU Foundation and/or Department of Intercollegiate Athletics information, and directing interaction with the Athletics Communications Office and other mail vendors.

    Assist with the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of all annual fund gifts for Athletics and secure overall support for scholarships, endowments, capital and planned gifts and other programs.

    Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the WVU intercollegiate athletic program assuring effective representation of all aspects of the program and priorities for private support.

    Initiate and facilitate collegial and cooperative relationships and open communications with other WVU Foundation and University personnel in advancing the mission, philosophy, and objectives of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

    Develop specific working knowledge of relevant Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and WVU Foundation computer systems necessary in completion of day-to-day business. As directed and needed, create, or assemble documents or reports for either internal or external uses in advancing or evaluating Athletic development.

    Coordinate all development efforts with the WVU Foundation and comply with all WVU Foundation reporting and accountability standards.

    Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including select administrative duties.

    Maintain knowledge of and comply with all rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines of WVU Foundation Inc., West Virginia University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA. Must adhere to NCAA Bylaw 11 .1 -Conduct of Athletic Personnel. Failure to adhere to these policies will result in appropriate disciplinary action including possible suspension and termination.

    Represent the WVU Foundation, the University, and Intercollegiate Athletics with the highest professional level of, integrity, strength of character, and ethics. Must respect the rights and dignity of individuals with sensitivity to problems that may arise from racial and ethnic differences.

    Manage sensitive and confidential information related to donors, ticket holders, student-athletes, coaches, and staff utilizing discretion and correct decisions. Failure to use proper discretion at required level could result in major and significant embarrassment to the University and/or have a significant impact on image, revenues, and eligibility of student-athletes.

    Faithfully and diligently execute related duties of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, as requested, or assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development/Executive Director of the Mountaineer Athletic Club.

    Education and/or Experience

Minimum of three to four years of progressive development experience . Experience with intercollegiate athletics, particularly Division I experience preferred. Direct experience working with and managing stewardship programs, major giving societies and donors preferred. Must have knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Computer Skills

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be Microsoft Office proficient. Familiarity with databases such as Raiser’s Edge and Paciolan is preferred.
