Foundation Director directs the execution of the vision, strategic planning, financial management, fundraising, and grantmaking operations that support the overall objectives of a foundation. Defines the goals and tactics for fundraising campaigns and program initiatives. Being a Foundation Director represents the foundation to the public and media to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments. Maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, grantees, community leaders, donors, and prospective donors. Additionally, Foundation Director oversees grantmaking operations, including developing grant guidelines, reviewing grant applications, and managing the grant evaluation process. Manages foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values. Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's grantmaking and programs. Ensures all foundation activities comply with applicable laws, reporting requirements, and regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Foundation Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Polk Education Foundation Executive Director is responsible for establishing a responsive working relationship between the community and the public school system and to link community resources to the education process.
Sensitize the community to the needs of local schools. Publicize the accomplishments and programs of the school system. Develop and enhance educational programs and initiatives.
Raise significant financial support for local schools and help to underwrite countywide programs.
Challenge parents, business leaders and the extended community to become involved in and support of their local schools and the district's education foundation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to communicate and coordinate with administrators, principals, schools personnel and the business community both private and corporate. Considerable organizational skills. Ability to work with civic organizations. Ability to express oneself clearly, orally and in writing. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Graduation from an accredited college or university. Experience in fundraising. Experience in working with the business community.

Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers.
