Description:
Is responsible for achieving departmental/area goals and objectives. Supervises semi to highly skilled production and/or maintenance employees on an assigned shift to ensure the manufacture of products within established delivery, quality, safety and cost standards. The supervisor is the first-line liaison between the production employees and the management staff and thus also serves the function of representing the company's interests with the shop floor staff.
This position will work a variable shift so candidates must be open to working 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. Overtime is likely either on weekends or extended weekday hours.
Interviews will be conducted either onsite or via MS Teams. Position will start onsite on the first day.
As a variable shift Supervisor – Melt/Pouring Operations for the John Deere Foundry located in Waterloo, IA, you will schedule iron flow from charge material to liquid metal while supervising a team of individuals. In addition, you will:
Role(s)/Duties:
· Directly supervise up to 25 production employees
· Execute strategic department initiatives, weekly schedules, and daily plans
· Manage employees and keep them accountable for their actions regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Efficiency
· Be actively engaged with cross functional teams to drive total productive manufacturing processes throughout the business
Required Skills:
· Excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment
· Experience with, or supporting, shop floor manufacturing and/or warehouse operation
· Demonstrated team leadership skills
· Experience communicating across functions (such as: supply management, engineering, operations, and human resources)
· Ability and flexibility to work across variable shifts based on production needs
Desired Skills:
· Experience with continuous improvement pay plans (CIPP)
· Experience with wage/union employee policies, practices, procedures, and work rules
· Experience in leadership or supervision of a union workforce
· Working knowledge of the CI continual improvement process and 5S
· 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing setting
· Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or similar discipline, or four or more years’ relevant work experience
