What You’ll Do as the Suicide Prevention Specialist:
The Suicide Prevention Specialist is responsible for implementation of suicide prevention curriculum in our local communities through school programming, community presentations, and workplace wellness presentations.
- The specialist is supervised by the Director of The SOURCE, hosted at Oaklawn.
- The specialist also works with the Executive Director of the Foundation to report financial matters and to consult on best strategies for implementation and managing the programs in local schools.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities for the Suicide Prevention Specialist:
- Manage current schools operating the Sources of Strength program.
- Work with Oaklawn to expand programming to additional middle, high, and elementary schools.
- Provide or coordinate necessary training for staff and students to implement the program.
- Manage the budget for each school.
- Gather data from schools on effectiveness of program.
- Gather PR/Marketing info from schools to report back to donors.
- Work with Oaklawn school liaisons and other relevant professionals to ensure proper communication and collaboration.
- Work effectively with group processes and be prepared to work with individuals in distress, making referrals as necessary.
Customer Contact/Relationships:
- The Suicide Prevention Specialist interacts children and youth in school settings and also works closely with school staff and other professionals.
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
- High School diploma/GED or Associate degree
- Previous child and youth experience preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
