    The Youth Suicide Prevention Manager will champion youth well-being by spearheading a Youth Coalition and delivering evidence-based suicide prevention training to parents, caregivers, and adults serving youth in Franklin County. This role entails overseeing the planning, execution, and assessment of the Youth Coalition, empowering youth through education on prevention science, and supporting youth-led prevention initiatives. Additionally, the Youth Suicide Prevention Manager will lead and organize suicide prevention training sessions (e.g., Question, Persuade, and Refer) for adults involved in youths’ lives.

    Schedule & Supervision

    Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (flexible in consultation with supervisor), 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday. Occasional weekend/evening hours. Reports to Franklin County Suicide Prevention Coalition Director. Opportunity for hybrid in-office/at-home work.

    Job Duties

    · Oversee the planning and implementation of the Youth Coalition.

    · Develop and grow relationships with Franklin County partners to support the Youth Coalition. Recruit organization(s) and youth to participate in the Youth Coalition

    · Apply prevention science, youth-led prevention best practices, and community-based suicide prevention best practices to the operation and evaluation processes of the Youth Coalition

    · Develop, present, and evaluate training curriculum for youth on prevention science, the Ohio prevention credentialing process, and community-based suicide prevention best practices

    · Provide guidance to youth in applying prevention science to the planning, implementing, and evaluating suicide prevention projects

    · Facilitate, coordinate, and evaluate suicide prevention training (e.g., Question, Persuade, and Refer) for parents, caregivers, and youth-serving adults. Develop and grow relationships with Franklin County partners to support suicide prevention training

    · Analyze and apply data to the continuous improvement of the Youth Coalition and suicide prevention training. Develop reports on Youth Coalition and suicide prevention training outcomes

    · Serve on Franklin County Suicide Prevention Coalition committees/action teams

    · Develop reports on training outcomes as well as Youth Coalition activities and outcomes

    · Maintain the ethical practices of professionals as outlined by section 4758 of the Ohio Administrative Code.

    Other Responsibilities

    · Represent MHAOhio at events, in committees, and in workgroups when appropriate

    · Participate in agency and program events and activities and work collaboratively with agency staff

    · Other duties, within reason and scope of the position’s primary duties, may be assigned after consultation between the employee and supervisor

    Qualifications

    · A minimum bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Secondary Education, or a related field

    · Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist Assistant (OCPSA) credential or higher or commitment to obtain OCPSA credential within 6 months of hire (prevention supervision will be provided)

    · Certified Question, Persuade, and Refer Instructor or commitment to obtain certification within two months of hire (training will be provided)

    · Three years of experience in program management and directly working with youth (ages 13-18)

    · Presentation and facilitation skills and/or public speaking experience

    · Ability to build rapport and collaborate with diverse people and communities, build effective and collaborative networks

    · Strong oral and written communication skills

    · Strong administrative and organizational skills, managing multiple activities and priorities

    · Work well both independently and in a collaborative team environment

    · Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, MacOS, and social media platforms

    · Passion for mental health.

    · A valid Ohio driver’s license is required within 30 days of hire

    Salary Range: $48,000 - $52,000 commensurate with experience and other qualifications.
