Fundraising Director directs an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Leads donor stewardship and relations to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Fundraising Director researches and identifies potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Fundraising Director uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Fundraising Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     Summary

    The Production Director, Direct Mail oversees client production requirements and manages workflow, schedules, quality standards and customer specifications, while building strong relationships with internal and external partners. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to motivate team members to deliver exceptional work and exceed expectations.


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Leads department related projects and events, while also fulfilling Production Management responsibilities for assigned clients.
    • Understands client requirements and directs the preparation of production plans for the team in addition to assigned direct mail programs.
    • Oversees the preparation of production proposals and schedules for each job based on mail dates and job specifications. Ensures that each Production Manager is driving adherence to schedules in cooperation with clients, internal teams, and external suppliers.
    • Ensures compliance with all company procedures. Develops, implements, communicates, and maintains consistent processes for the department.
    • Works across departments and account teams to develop process improvements to optimize production team effectiveness and to maximize cost efficiencies across all clients.
    • Engages in creative process across clients regarding component specifications, cost-efficiency, and adherence to USPS regulations. Ensures that final specifications for projects are created and shared internally. Reviews and supports contract pricing strategy and negotiation for major client programs.
    • For clients as assigned, will review data documents, data processing, imaging and lettershop instructions; will ensure data and accompanying documents are issued to the supplier in a timely and secure manner. Ensures that letter shops are informed regarding the appropriate postage methods and analysis, and that postage funds are received from clients. Continuously reviews team processes for efficiencies, including more effective postal optimization.
    • Monitors project tasks detailed above for the production management team and each of their assigned clients. Maintains production files and distributes package samples.
    • Monitors and ensures that quality control measures are implemented, including new quality control processes for department as needed.
    • Assists in developing and managing departmental budget.
    • Conducts discussions regarding billing processes and ensures that the production team adheres to company billing procedures.
    • Facilitates and communicates updates on postal regulations, suppliers, and print technology across the agency. Maintains working relationship with the USPS, keeps staff informed of postal rate and regulatory changes and conducts research with the USPS on behalf of company and clients. Effectively negotiates supplier and USPS disputes.
    • Leads the production team in Gang Run efforts, creating efficiencies in process, pricing, and schedules.
    • Utilizes internal proprietary software for all production related documents and reports. Makes decisions regarding improvements to production module and assists in designing and testing new programming. Provides guidance on complex data projects.
    • Works with production team to traffic production jobs through to completion, adhering to timelines and mail dates. Works with vendors to resolve scheduling issues when escalation is needed. Ensures timely issuance of all reports and transmissions to appropriate parties.
    • Supports new business development projects.

    Qualifications

    • 8 years of experience managing production in the direct mail industry for nonprofit fundraising.
    • 5 years of direct marketing agency experience required.
    • 4 years of experience managing a team.
    • Nonprofit experience required.
    • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
    • Effectively manages personnel.
    • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal staff and external suppliers.
    • Thorough understanding of direct mail data processing, imaging, and insertion requirements.
    • Ability to create print specifications for multiple types of direct mail components.
    • Knowledge of nonprofit postal rates and regulations.
    • Ability to work independently and efficiently on multiple deadline-oriented projects, and adaptable to changing conditions and requirements.
    • Other key competencies include strong communication and interpersonal skills; effective problem-solving abilities; sound decision making and judgement; and a commitment to quality.
