Fundraising Manager manages an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Implements donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Fundraising Manager works to develop potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Fundraising Manager uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Fundraising Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Fundraising Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Museum of the Rockies (MOR) is Montana’s most visited museum. MOR is a college-level division of Montana State University, an independent 501©(3) organization, a Smithsonian Affiliate, an accredited AAM museum, and a repository for state and federal fossils. The interdisciplinary museum has one of the finest collections of paleontology in the world and a significant cultural collection from the Northern Rocky Mountain region. Located on a 22-acre museum site, it includes a 120,000-square-foot-facility, the state-of-the-art Taylor Planetarium, the 220 seat Hager Auditorium, Martin Children’s Discovery Center, and Living History Farm, along with an off-site 553-acre paleontology preserve.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • The Fundraising Events Manager works as part of a dedicated team within the Development and Membership Department at Museum of the Rockies and reports to the Director of Development & Membership.
    • Works with the Director of Development and Membership along with museum administration to establish and meet event budgets.
    • Responsible for successfully planning and implementing a publicly engaging annual schedule of events that support Museum of the Rockies’s diverse mission, including:
      • Major fundraising events such as Evening at the Museum and MOR’s Taste of the Rockies,
      • Small donor and member cultivation events,
      • Exhibit openings for members.
      • Other VIP events.
    • Responsible for tracking fundraising event expenses and revenue and ensuring timely payments to vendors and fulfillment of sponsor pledges.
    • Working with the development team, execute an event sponsorship and solicitation strategy and maintain tracking of solicitation levels, benefits, response, and fulfillment.
    • Recruits and sets expectations for volunteer involvement on event committees, developing agendas, and maintaining clear communications with committee members and staff.
    • Solicits proposals from vendors to provide sound and visual production, food and beverages, and equipment.
    • Keeps timely records of bids and activities of vendors. Works with University and County officials, including facilities and health officials when appropriate.
    • Collaborates with Marketing Department to deploy timely messaging to museum members and general public.
    • Manages/implements online ticketing module and database to successfully run programs and record donor or member information as needed.
    • Oversees fundraising event logistics, timelines, operation memos, and communications with vendors, staff, volunteers, and participants to ensure the success of programs.
    • Manages all day-of logistics of events, including directing a team of volunteers and staff during and after events.
    • Maintains the highest level of customer service to ensure that event participants, donors, and members have a remarkable experience.
    • Conducts financial reporting and evaluation after event concludes and ensures that each event meets or exceeds revenue goals.

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
    • Demonstrated success with fundraising events that meet or exceed budgets.
    • Experience cultivating and stewarding donor relationships.
    • B.A. or equivalent work experience.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
    • Three or more years of experience successfully planning a variety of small- and large-scale events.
    • Experience with or interest in learning event sponsorship solicitations.
    • Museum or non-profit experience in a Development Department.
    • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) fundraising database experience.
    • Some supervisory experience with staff and/or volunteers.
