Furnace Operator/Tender sets-up, operates, maintains, and controls furnaces to melt metal to specified temperatures. Adjusts controls to regulate the furnace and to maintain specified temperature. Being a Furnace Operator/Tender requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Furnace Operator/Tender relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.     What You Will Do :

    • Internal strains and rearrange internal structure.
    • Arranges material on table for manual feeding.
    • Ensures quality of product by observing condition and position of material during the process.
    • Sets heat control units and conveyor speeds at temperatures and rates instructed by supervisor or QA printout.
    • Maintains heat codes and completes and submits the required paperwork.
    • Responsible for the proper lubrication of equipment.
    • Reports to supervisor any unusual conditions in operation, equipment, or material.
    • Responsible for production, quality, and safe operating practices.
    • Obtains reasonable production with minimal supervision.
    • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
    • Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.

    Education, Licensing and Certifications :

    • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferably in a machine shop or manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience in the oil and gas industry preferred.

    • Commitment to work overtime as needed.
    • Maintain appropriate levels of daily attendance, initiative and productivity.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to fractional equivalents, and fractions to decimal equivalents.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
