Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Furnace Operator to join our team. As a Furnace Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining furnace equipment to ensure the efficient production of high-quality products. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Responsibilities:
1. Load and discharge materials into or from furnace.
2. Observes temperature gauges and metal color and adjusts controls to maintain required temperature.
3. Controls flow of electric current and water coolant to heat furnaces.
4. Drains, transfers, or removes molten metal from furnace or into molds by hoist or pumps or ladles.
5. Observes color and fluidity of molten metal and obtains test sample of metal from furnace for analysis.
6. Sprinkles chemicals over molten metal to bring impurities to surface and removes impurities, using strainers.
7. Analyzes metal test sample, according to specific instructions and for specific and for specific element content.
8. Inspects furnace and equipment for defects and wear and directs work-crew in cleaning and repairing furnace walls.
9. Examines and prepares material to load into furnace.
10. Draws metal samples from furnace for analysis and calculates type and amount of material required to correct melting process.
11. Weighs materials to be charged into furnace or to maintain prescribed weight, using scales.
12. Records data and maintains production logs.
