Lower Paxton Township Public Works Department is accepting applications for the full-time position of GIS Manager. An employee is this position is responsible for maintaining Lower Paxton Township (the Township)’s Geographical Information Systems (GIS), which is built on ERIS’s ArcGIS platform, using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online solutions, and implementing new workflows and solutions as part of the Townships digital transformation utilizing GIS tools. He/she develops strategies and procedures for collecting GIS location data in the field integrated with ArcGIS Online; creates and maintains maps to support the Township’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Program, parks system, public works projects and infrastructure, sewer projects and infrastructure, and any other maps which enhance Township Operations. He/she collects GPS location data for various infrastructure features; provides training and guidance on data collections to GIS interns and Township staff as requested. He/she researches and reviews potential new uses of GIS to streamline the Township’s workflow across various departments and works with the Township’s consulting engineers as necessary to deploy new practices and tools to improve efficiency. He/she works with applicable department heads to develop an annual budget.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in GIS. Geographical Sciences, Geospatial Technology, Geography, Information Sciences, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field preferred. Two years of work experience in GIS is preferred. Experience in a municipal government setting is preferred. Experience with the field collection of data points using GPS data collectors is required. Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online software preferred. Or, any acceptable combination or education, experience, and/or training.
Other Requirements: A favorable criminal background check and a valid driver's license are required.
