This is professional, technical, analytical, and supervisory work involving the research, development, analysis, maintenance, and design of moderately complex Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other, related highly technical software, including web-based programs and mobile applications. Work involves managing the requests, daily scheduling and delivery of multiple map and application development assignments; providing GIS products, services, support and coordination of all GIS related activities for the Police Department, and to the public, through application development, mapping, analysis, and reporting; designing, developing, and implementing automated “extract, transform, and load” (ETL) processes to migrate external data into internal systems; and the development and maintenance of map services and internet and intranet web mapping applications; Work includes overseeing and maintaining the Police Department’s enterprise geodatabase and GIS application software; providing technical assistance to end users, including coordinating, developing, and evaluating code writing of one or more programing languages to deliver and maintain customized web-based mapping and GIS workflows and applications; documenting project requirements, processes, workflows, guides, and application development; evaluating, recommending, and implementing GIS policies and procedures; and training staff in the use of complex automated interactive graphics systems.
