This position is responsible for maintaining the McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark facilities and grounds.
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities my include, but are not limited to, the following:- Maintains and repairs Airpark facilities, including repairing and replacing windows, painting, dry wall repair or replacement, changing light bulbs, plumbing, welding, and basic carpentry.
- Maintains Airpark grounds by cutting grass, trimming trees, and landscaping.
- Maintains airport runways including replacing taxiway and runway lights, clearing debris from taxiways and runways, replacing wind socks, and repairing hangar doors.
- Operates equipment such as mower, sprayers, dump truck, backhoe, and bush hog tractor.
- Maintains rail spur linking Airpark to main line railroad.
- May serve as lead worker in absence of manager.
- May be on call after hours to respond to emergency situation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Must possess a valid state issued driver's license and, on date of hire or within 90 days of hired date, must have obtained a Commercial Texas Driver's License Class B, for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Possession of or ability to become certified in various disciplines associated with position (use of agricultural chemicals/pesticides, etc.)
- Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance methods and practices.
- Knowledge of department, city and safety rules and procedures.
- Knowledge of airport maintenance, lighting and electrical systems.
- Skill in basic mathematical calculations.
- Skill in painting, electrical, structural, and plumbing repairs.
- Skill in operating grounds maintenance equipment to include mower, dump truck, back hoe, and bush hog tractor and other.
- Skill in operating hand tools for facility and grounds maintenance.
- Skill in operating airport equipment.
- Skill in oral communication.
