    Physical Demands: Work is both physical and office oriented with field operations being a major component of this position. Field duties require driving and/or operation of a variety of equipment and vehicles and performance of difficult and physically demanding repairs. The work requires walking, stooping, bending, lying flat, and repeated lifting. The incumbent must have good vision, reaction reflexes and depth perception. Physical demands require coordination for hand, eye, and body. The incumbent must exert physical effort related to actions such as lifting (10-100 pounds), pushing, pulling, carrying objects of various weights, sizes and shapes, walking, climbing, crawling and bending. The office portion of the position requires sitting at computer work stations for extended periods of time to produce a bevy of work products such as duty schedules, employee reviews, financial transactions, reports, site assessments and other similar products.

    Work Environment: Work is performed in all kinds of environments from an office setting the project sites in rough and steep terrain. Field work involves vehicular and foot access and may involve accessing remote areas. Temperatures may range from near zero to over 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Weather may include periods of rain. Snow, and heavy winds. Wearing of the authorized BLM uniform is required during field work, and weekend work will also be required. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, abrasions, bruises and strains while servicing and operating equipment. The incumbent is required to follow all prescribed safety practices, use and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working with noisy equipment, using power and hand tools; when using chemicals and paints in cleaning and other maintenance and construction activities, It is expected that incumbent will wear PPE such as respirators while performing these tasks and use positive ventilation to reduce risk, and in the performance of doing construction work which sometimes involves working high above ground level.
