General Maintenance Worker
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has a great opportunity for a General Maintenance Worker who would like to join our maintenance team in Facilities Operations and be a key member of our success.
As a General Maintenance Worker, you will perform basic activities in a variety of disciplines such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and flooring as well as troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs. You will inspect and identify equipment, building systems or machines in need of repair and plan repair work using building blueprints or equipment manual(s) as needed. You will also perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician such as repairing drywall, ceilings, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures. A member of the maintenance team, as a General Maintenance Worker you will perform routine maintenance on building systems and work with senior maintenance workers on complex projects.
Qualified candidates will hold a High School Diploma and have one year of relevant work experience. Successful completion of pre-employment screenings that include a background check, motor vehicle report, and physical ability assessment are required of the selected finalist(s). In addition to the required qualifications, preferred candidates will hold a Journeyman’s Carpenter License as well as have related experience that includes knowledge of general carpentry skills and repair, the ability to use hand tools and power tools and excellent organizational and time management skills. Preferred candidates will also exhibit the ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
