Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. Overview:
Our client, a publicly traded Women's Healthcare Laboratory, is seeking a Data Scientist.
The candidate will report to the Sr. Director of Data Science to help build out a network of databases to design, and create machine learning algorithms for ovarian cancer and endometriosis detection. Onsite with the future possibility of Hybrid role.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Help build or institute a cross-functional platform to support multiple projects and large data sets
2. Establish processes for data gathering, storage, analysis; and blending both open-source, third party and proprietary computational algorithms.
3. Develop and implement bioinformatics initiatives utilizing all available resources to organize, manage and support all research activities.
4. Support bioinformatics and data analytics efforts
5. Help oversee the computational infrastructure and controls the flow of samples and information for large-scale studies.
6. Help develop and maintain applications systems for the management and analysis of data.
7. Help develop novel informatics and computational tools and utilize emerging web technologies.
8. Provide support to lead programs through analysis and integration of NGS data
9. Help with the development of new products from R&D through clinical validation
10. Work side-by-side with multiple teams to resolve both technical issues and issues of policy to ensure a smooth information flow.

7. Experience with languages such as Python and R is required. Knowledge of others such as Java, Shell, Docker is a bonus
8. Proven experience in developing machine learning and deep learning systems to solve real world problems.

Education, Certification/Licensure, and/or Experience
1. Master’s in statistics or computer science or a related field with 3-5 years, or a Bachelor’s and 5-7 years, related experience.
2. 2 years’ experience programming in R and/or Python.
3. Familiarity with relational, columnar, and SQL/NoSQL database system
