Genetics Counselor jobs in Muskegon, MI
Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. Genetics Counselor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

- Develop opportunities for interaction between campers and staff.
- Provide opportunities for the group so that each individual experiences success
during camp.
- Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems or concerns.
General Responsibility:
To carry out camp programs.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Guide a cabin group and work with junior counselor in participating successfully
in all aspects of camp activities.
- Carry out established roles for supervising camper health.
- Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations.
- Help supervise all aspects of the campers’ day including arrival, lunch time, rest
time and departure.
- Teach or lead an activity, as assigned.
- Prepare for and actively participate in staff training, meetings, and supervisory
conferences.
- Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality,
sharing cleanup and chores, sportsmanship, and table manners.
- Follow camp rules and regulations pertaining to smoking, use of alcoholic
beverages, and use of drugs.
- Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.
- Perform some maintenance duties such as mowing, cleaning of cabins, etc. as
assigned.

other duties may be assigned as required
