Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice.     This position is located in Ainsworth, Nebraska.

    Job Summary:

    The position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the feed mill with adherence to safety standards and production standards to support the facility needs.

    • Assist with daily ingredient inventory at the batching area and fill ingredient hopper for distribution.
    • Load feed into the transporting truck using the overhead drop; drive feed truck for deliveries to farms.
    • Operate a straight truck and trailer combination, including the ability to safely maneuver based on situational needs.
    • Operate a feed trailer auger and extended boom arm, including general repairs on equipment.
    • Ensure control room and mixing areas are clean and orderly, which extends to the outside area around the bins.
    • Assist local farmers bringing in grain, weigh trucks and receive bulk ingredients according to standard process.
    • Ensure food ingredients meet dietary needs of animals, receive and record incoming ingredients/grains, mix and make feed to be transported to surrounding farms. Follow ingredient sampling protocol for quality control and quality assurance.
    • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on truck and trailer to ensure cleanliness, including power wash and disinfectant.
    • Perform general repairs on augers and machinery, including routine maintenance on all equipment. Support new construction and/or changes to existing layout.
    • Promote safe work habits and a safe working environment, ensuring all work-related injuries are properly reported, documented, and reduced through proper training and safety procedure enforcement.
    • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the feed mill (control room, mixing area, outside, etc.), holding employees accountable for the care and cleanliness of work site. Implement best practices for environment stewardship.
    • Responsible for following biosecurity standards and herd health policies, which includes mandatory showering and changing into farm clothes prior to entering the farm, having no contact with other swine, and adhering to down-time requirements as established by PIC (Pig Improvement Company).

    Operating Farm Equipment (if applicable to position as determined by management):

    • Be properly trained and certified to operate equipment and vehicles (rented or owned) according to the operator's manual and OSHA standards if applicable.
    • Check and maintain all fluid levels according to the operator's manual, prior to starting vehicles (trucks, tractors, skid steers, UTV side-by-side, etc.).
    • Use only the recommended types of fluids listed in the operator's manual.
    • Grease tractors, loaders, skid steers, manure spreader, construction equipment, pay loaders, disk, etc. according to the operator’s manual prior to operation.
    • Allow trucks, tractors, skid steers, pay loaders, construction equipment, or any machinery with an engine and fluid levels to warm up all fluid levels including hydraulic oil prior to operation.
    • Understand that warranty work can be denied if non-recommended fluids are utilized, or not maintained to the proper level, and not greased.

    Job Requirements:

    • HS Graduate or equivalent.
    • 18 years or older.
    • 1-2 years of related work experience.
    • Valid driver’s license and insurability is required to operate company vehicles.
    • Prior experience driving and operating a truck and trailer; CDL Class A with air brake endorsement preferred.
    • Strong troubleshooting and resolution skills with knowledge of production machines and equipment.
    • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
    • Ability to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
    • Ability to recognize problems before they occur and take a proactive approach to resolve the issue.
    • Strong communication skills, ability to work independent and collaboratively, self-motivated.
    • Proven ability to lead by example and positively influence a group of people.
    • Ability to maintain positive working relationships and support organizational processes and goals.
    • Ability to work in conditions with varying temperatures, loud noise, odiferous and dust.
    • Ability to stand and walk on concreate floors for up to 9 hours per day, with the ability repeatedly lift 55 pound bags.
    • Ability to work with moving mechanical parts while wearing required personal protective equipment and adhering to all safety standards.
    • Flexible to work varying schedule to include early mornings, late evenings and occasional weekends based on business needs.
    • Ability to perform the required functions of the job, including physical demands like pushing, kneeling and bending at the waist for long periods of time, climbing up/down stairs, and operating high power equipment.
