Genetics Counselor jobs in Waco, TX
Genetics Counselor provides genetic counseling and education to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Obtains and analyzes family medical history to identify patients at risk for specific disorders or syndromes. Being a Genetics Counselor recommends genetic testing as warranted and counsels patients on test results, treatment and alternative coping methods. May provide crisis intervention as needed. Additionally, Genetics Counselor requires a master's degree of Genetic Counseling. Typically reports to a manager or director. Requires board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG). Typically requires a state license to practice. Genetics Counselor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Registered nurses oversee the activities of the nursing staff. The RN is responsible for overseeing each patient's overall health and medical histories.By taking a patient's entire history into account, the RN can ensure that each individual receives the best care possible.
In addition to the basic duties performed by nursing assistants and LPN's, RN's are also responsible for advanced activities such as starting intravenous infusions, administering oxygen, monitoring blood sugar levels and consulting with the supervising physicians.
Plans, implements and documents nursing care.- Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid registration as an RN in the state of Practice
- Completion of relevant state Board of Nursing approved.
