Summary:
Tetra Tech, Inc. is seeking an entry to mid-level Geoscientist experienced in performing Environmental Assessments and other investigative activities for our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office. Experience in mining, plus the oil and gas environmental industry is a plus. The work will primarily be located in Kentucky, but could include Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. The candidate should have a fundamental understanding and working knowledge of environmental rules and regulations in the above listed states.
The successful candidate will work on a variety of environmental permitting/site investigation / remediation projects and site investigations at industrial / commercial sites and / or government installations and conduct site assessment for real estate transactions. Duties will include performing routine, well-defined field and office assignments (technical and non-technical) including planning, conducting, and reporting on field investigations involving abandoned mine (AML) sites, active mine sites, well installations, soil and groundwater sampling, aquifer testing and hydrogeology. Duties will also include working with stakeholders; watershed groups; landowners; federal, state, and local government officials; and other Tetra Tech staff with diverse technical backgrounds to plan, develop or otherwise facilitate mine reclamation and AMD treatment and/or abatement projects. Work will also include supporting the preparation of project designs for AML and AMD projects including completing or supporting investigations, assessments, permit applications, field studies, design assistance, and construction-phase services. Work may be conducted under a variety of regulatory programs (Oil and Gas, AML and Mining, UST, Brownfields) primarily in Kentucky and also Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Will receive detailed instructions on work objectives, complex features and possible solutions and will receive close supervision and review of work. With experience, may be assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
