TITLE: Quarry Geologist
DEPARTMENT: Operations - Geology

REPORTS TO: Quarry Manager (Dotted line to Senior Geologist Northeast)
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for understanding, collecting and managing quarry deposit geology and geologic information. Responsible for applying geologic knowledge, sampling, and plant requirements to assure that mined ore meets plant stockpile feed quality specifications. Collaboratively work with Plant Manager, Quality Control staff and Process Engineers to coordinate and manage ore feed requirement and to resolve ore quality issues. Work with Mine Planning team and Quarry Manager to develop balanced, optimized short term mine plans within the context of the Life of Mine Plan.
Promote a safe work environment with Contractors and Omya staff to ensure that efficient production and development are completed safely and in accordance with both short and long-term plans in order to maintain adequate supplies of quality plant feed ores on budget.
Conduct geologic mapping and geologic studies within the quarry to support updates to the geologic model. Define and conduct exploratory projects as proposed by Geology & Mining management..
RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS: A university degree in geology, mine engineering or a suitable combination of appropriate education and experience, with at least 1 year of practical geologic experience gained primarily at hard rock open pit quarry operations.
