    JOB TITLE:

    EORI Geologist Senior

    JOB PURPOSE:

    Work under limited guidance of the Director of EORI on the research and application of practical and economical methods to improve oil and gas production in Wyoming. Provide senior level research support to department and staff.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work closely with EORI staff, stakeholders, collaborators, and the oil and gas industry on research and application of practical and economical methods to improve oil and gas production in Wyoming.
    • Processes that this job supports may include research, geologic mapping, reservoir characterization, petroleum and reservoir engineering, input from industry to help guide research, technology evaluation and pilot testing, and technology transfer through oral presentations, discussions, and publications.
    • Engage in a positive manner to have a positive impact on the performance and morale of EORI staff, interaction with EORI stakeholders, and the applicability and overall quality of the Institute.
    • Monitor and report on data quality, quantity, and applicability of output (technology transfer).
    • Utilize relevant software, such as Petra and MS Office, and research abilities to facilitate the highest quality of output.
    • Help oversee the assimilation of pertinent data and ensure input into relevant databases.
    • Work with EORI staff to optimize talents and abilities to best match needs of industry.
    • Develop and present both oral and written presentations focused on providing suitable transfer of technology to staff and industry.
    • Assist EORI Management in evaluation of projects and provide input when requested to assist in prioritization and best use of staff and data.
    • Maintain good working relationships with all the affiliated members of the oil and gas industry and associated government and academic staff to ensure open communications and relevance of work efforts.
    • Provide technical support to Wyoming operators to help maximize productivity from their assets.
    • Provide technical expertise on a wide scope of projects such as EOR fields, data analytics, geological interpretation, and reservoir modeling.
    • Work with various operators and technology providers to conduct pilot testing of emerging technologies in a wide variety of disciplines.
    • Examine relevant new software for viability and applicability to successfully fulfill EORI’s mission.
    • Regular, predictable attendance is required to perform the essential duties of this position.

    Type of leadership, supervisory, or management responsibilities and authority-

    As assigned, provide supervision or mentoring to other members of the EORI staff and stakeholders.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Technical field (Physicist, Geochemist, Economist, Data/GIS/Computer Science, etc.) or similar field

    Experience: 10 years of directly related experience

    Other: Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation

                 Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Professional licensure/certification and/or membership in a professional organization is preferred (i.e., WGA, AAPG, etc.)
    • Knowledge of well log correlations
    • Knowledge of subsurface geologic mapping
    • Knowledge of reservoir characterization
    • Generation and presentation of professional technical papers
    • Understanding of improved and enhanced oil recovery methods and practices
