    JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Geophysicist works within the Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) Group and serves as the lead for geophysical efforts during investigation and remediation efforts for KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc. (KEMRON) during both proposal preparation and project execution. This position works closely with the Proposal and Estimating Departments and Project Managers in various office locations.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Preparing work plans and completion reports for geophysical surveys/mapping in support of investigation and remediation projects;
    • Developing technical approach for geophysical investigation and remediation on MMRP proposals;
    • Preparing purchase requisitions and obtaining bids for geophysical survey and mapping services and equipment;
    • Evaluating geophysical data relative to presence and extent of buried military munitions;
    • Supervising geophysical activities and providing quality control of surveying and mapping;
    • Reviewing geophysical survey reports and presenting quality control data; and
    • Perform other duties to provide support to the MMRP Group.

    EDUCATION:
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics, Geology, or Geological Engineering required
    • Master of Science degree in Geophysics, Geology, or Geological Engineering preferred
    • Certified Quality Auditor or USACE Construction Quality Management certification preferred

    NECESSARY EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
    • Must have over ten years of direct work with performing and evaluating geophysical surveying;
    • Must have over five years experience in detection and discrimination of buried military munitions;
    • Must have over five years experience working on government projects under MMRP;
    • Strong understanding of business development relative to preparation of MMRP proposals and teaming with contractors;
    • High level of proficiency using all Microsoft applications (Word/Excel/Access/SharePoint/Outlook) is required;
    • Proficiency with GIS, VSP, UX-Analyze and Geosoft database and previous experience with Advanced Geophysical Classification (AGC) required;
    • Previous experience with Munitions Response Quality Assurance Project Plan (MR QAPP) Toolkit Module 1: Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study is preferred;
    • Strong understanding of land surveying requirements and systems as they pertain to implementation of MMRP field work required;
    • Must have demonstrated success writing proposals, preparing reports and meeting deadlines.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must have a strong personal work ethic;
    • The ability to work independently as well as with small and large teams across many professional levels and disciplines is critical to success; and
    • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Must be able to pass an OSHA physical, driving record check, and background check for access to military installations.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    • Must be able to work on a computer for prolonged periods during proposal preparation, data evaluation and report preparation activities;
    • Must be able to travel to proposal site visits and project jobsites at both DoD installations and remote FUDS properties; and
    • Must be able to support up to one week in the field at a time during startup of and execution of field activities to provide quality control and to assess accuracy and completeness of geophysical surveys.

    This is a full-time salaried position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasionally there may be after hours and weekend work required on an emergency and pre-arranged agreed upon basis.
