    BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY

    The Geophysicist, under minimal supervision, performs complex duties related to the characterization and development of hydrocarbon resources. They must collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team utilizing their knowledge of the reservoir to support planning, drilling, and completions efforts. The candidate will also be responsible for the asset resource progression through appraisal efforts, including but not limited to the generation of new play concepts, interdisciplinary reservoir characterizations, appraisal planning, data acquisition proposals and integration of learnings. The candidate should desire to work in a collaborative, multi-functional team setting that prioritizes a "One Team" approach to problem solving.

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor's degree in Geophysical Sciences, Geology, Mathematics, or Physics

    EXPERIENCE

    Three years of related industry experience in Geophysics/Geology preferred but not required

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Ability to support multi-disciplinary teams in answering complex geologic problems related to the development and growth of Devon's assets, utilizing state of the art software and analysis techniques
      • Provide regional and reservoir scale seismic interpretation and mapping of 3D and 2D seismic data
      • Integrate seismic and wireline data to construct structural, stratigraphic and depositional models needed to assist other disciplines in the understanding of petrophysical, geophysical, and engineering relationships of oil and gas reservoirs
      • Integrate seismic interpretation with geology for the planning and successful planning and execution of horizontal wells, including preparation and presentation of quality material for internal project approval, regulatory documentation, and other stake holder communications
      • Support the generation of operation plans that satisfy both technical and financial objective; understand and apply geological risk to exploration, appraisal, and development projects, and work with a probabilistic mindset
      • Work closely with other geoscientists to prepare project specifications for geophysical projects and/or operations
      • Prepare detailed budgets and timelines for geophysical project tracking, submit tender and bid packages to vendors and evaluate results, and assist with monthly and year ends accruals for seismic projects
      • Effectively communicate ideas, project results, and recommendations to the team and leadership

      • Knowledge in applied regional mapping, aeromagnetic data interpretation, applied hydrodynamics, current stratigraphic correlation and/or structural concepts
      • Experience with oil and gas horizontal drilling, completion, and simulation technology is preferred
