    General Responsibilities:

    This opening is for an entry-level geophysicist who will work primarily out of Terracon’s Northern New Jersey and Philadelphia offices. The successful candidate, who must have a degree in a geology or civil engineering discipline, will be trained to perform basic geophysical field surveys (e.g., electrical resistivity, ground penetrating radar and utility locating), and to observe and document geotechnical and geologic investigations (e.g., test borings, test pits, etc.) on project sites that will generally be located throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Southern New York.

    Essential Role and Responsibilities:
    • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
    • Apply sound engineering or geologic principles in all aspects of work.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing as required, to supervisors, clients, contractors and other outside parties.
    • Be proficient with Microsoft Office and 2D AutoCAD and be fully capable of learning and operating company-developed desktop and mobile applications needed to carry out day-to-day activities.
    • Work under the supervision and guidance of Terracon professional engineers and senior geophysicists.
    • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects, participate in pre-task planning and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering geology, geological engineering or civil engineering.
    • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
    Preferred:
    • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Geology (FG) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
    • College course work or on-the-job training related to basic geophysical field survey methods.
