Position Summary
Reporting to the Chemical Engineer, the Process Engineer is a key contributor to Zinpro’s success support business and operational objectives by leading continuous improvement initiatives throughout all Zinpro manufacturing facilities; including the assessment, development and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment and operating strategy. Work will center around process improvement, equipment selection, operating strategy, commissioning new equipment, and other activities related to successful and world class operation of the plant. Success in this position requires strong analytical and project management skills, including the ability to lead and execute process improvement activities of varying complexity in a chemical manufacturing environment. This role is based at Zinpro’s manufacturing plant in Shell Rock, Iowa.
Essential Functions
- Leads projects and activities in the areas of process improvement, equipment selection, operating strategy, commissioning new equipment, and other activities related to successful and world class operation of the plant
- Leads the implementation of process improvement programs through cross-functional project management using a data-driven approach to problem solving and decision making
- Provides day-to-day technical support to Plant Operators and Maintenance Technicians, including development and execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and technical assistance to operations for problem solving, optimization and training
- Performs technical evaluations as needed to help ensure and confirm the success of new installations and modifications
- Assists in the selection, development, monitoring and continuous improvement of defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and presents this information visually and verbally
- Produces monthly production efficiency reports for
PCS i.e. energy cost/kg, downtime, etc. - Supports Environmental Health and Safety Compliance, cGMP and Food Safety Compliance
- Collaborates with Lab personnel to improve testing consistency as it relates to process expectations
- Creates technical presentations including value-based analysis that justify process capital and system improvements
- Works across all Zinpro plants to align local efforts and create best practices for Zinpro Operations
- Manages audits of Operational data to identify issues with consistency and adherence to established process standards
- Assists with the implementation of ISO and other regulatory requirements
- Assists with production scheduling, operator shift schedules and the training of plant personnel as needed

Qualifications
Minimum Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience working in a production environment or warehouse operation
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

Travel Requirements
This position will work primarily at their home manufacturing plant facility and is expected to engage in company-sponsored travel approximately 10-15% of the time. Travel will consist primarily of visits to Zinpro Corporate Headquarters and manufacturing facilities.
