Geotechnical Engineer jobs in Newark, NJ

This industry leader in full-service material testing is looking to hire a Geotechnical Engineer to their team of enthusiastic subject matter experts!

Description:

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Lead Geotechnical Engineer on projects responsible for overseeing design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and technical specifications for assigned projects.
• Prepare subsurface exploration programs, laboratory assignments and preparing geotechnical reports.
• Evaluate ground conditions and understand their impacts on design and construction.
• Provide guidance to entry level Engineers.
• Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
• Independently perform all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
• Perform geotechnical investigations and construction inspections.
• Lead/manage geotechnical engineering investigations.
• Perform pile analysis, slope stability, settlement analysis, ground improvements and seepage analysis.
• Utilize computer software programs, such as: APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SEEPW, SLOPEW and GRLWEAP.
• Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and construction documents.
• This position will work both independently and in teams.
• Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
• Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
• Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
• Will work with and coordinate staff to meet project needs and schedule.
• Meet with Clients

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Geotechnical Engineering: 5-10 years of experience using Engineering degree
• Soil testing: independently perform soil boring testing
• Report Writing: independently prepare proposals and geotechnical reports with recommendations for foundation designs
• NJ PE highly preferred
• Experience with NYSDOT, and NJDOT
