Now Hiring for a Geotechnical Drilling Assistant

Our drilling crews collect soil and rock samples that provide site information used by our geotechnical engineers when designing new roads, bridges, and buildings. We need a Drilling Assistant to help with drilling operations in the Western South Dakota area. In this role, you’ll operate company vehicles and drilling equipment to obtain soil and rock samples, record test locations/soil type, install monitoring wells, and seal boreholes while prioritizing safety and client relationships. Candidates should enjoy working outdoors in varied weather conditions and have a comfort level with equipment maintenance.

IN THIS JOB, YOU WILL:

• Set up equipment and assist in the operation of the drill rig in a safe manner.

• Work with the crew chief to operate drilling equipment, install monitoring wells, collect samples, prepare field logs, and restore the site to its previous condition.

• Maintain equipment and troubleshoot as needed.

• Communicate AET project managers for smooth and successful projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• HS diploma or equivalent required.

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required (CDL preferred but not required).

• A background in soil science, geology, or earth science is preferred, but we will train.
