Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Glass Cutter/Finisher relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. We service a worldwide customer base and provide in-depth technical support as well as superior sensor products to a demanding industry.


    We are seeking a Glass Shop Assistant who is responsible for assisting with the routine daily operations of the Glass Shop.    


    Schedule: M-F, 5:30AM-2:00PM


    Tasks/Responsibilities:

    • Checks glass quality for basic glass defects such as airlines, bubbles, scratches, and cracks.
    • Reads blueprints/work orders for specifications such as dimensions.
    • Cuts glass tubes to size using hand tools and/or wet saw.
    • Inspects cut glass for precise accuracy using calipers, rulers, and gauges.
    • Washes cut glass using a multi-step process.
    • Inspects, cuts, and grinds ceramic and grade according to work order, as assigned.
    • Sets up and regulates oven temperatures, according to glass types being worked on.
    • Loads parts into oven and removes promptly after specified time.
    • Ensures all parts are clean after removing from the oven before delivering to a Supervisor/Manager or Glass Lathe Operator.  
    • Cleans and maintains ovens, as needed.
    • Rewashes glass parts by hand according to work instruction, as needed.
    • Stamps heat-treated identification marks on glass parts, using Stamp machine, according to Work Instructions as assigned.
    • Prepares and mixes wick ceramic and paint ceramic, according to the work order.
    • Monitors levels of available ceramic and notifies Supervisor/Manager when stock is low.
    • Cuts wires, using machine and/or by hand, to the required measurement in accordance with the work instruction.
    • Prepares plastic bags used to store cut wires for stock, as directed.
    • Assist in various additional tasks within the Glass Shop.
    •  Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all department procedures.


    Abilities:

    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a repetitive environment with little supervision.
    • Ability to understand and apply work-related documents such as blueprints, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to understand and perform to job-related quality standards, methods, usage of inspection devices and reporting, as required.
    • Basic understanding and use of mathematics.
    • Ability to plan and keep track of tasks, materials, and time.

    • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to climb stairs/ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and reach with both hands and arms repetitively throughout the day.
    • Must have good vision (close, color vision, peripheral, depth perception, adjust focus).
    • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 25 lbs. repetitively throughout day.


    Preferred Experience/Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum Requirements of employee (education, previous use of specific equipment/technologies, prior experience etc.)


    • Prior experience working with glass parts preferred.
    • Prior experience in an assembly/production or quality-controlled environment strongly preferred.
    • HS Diploma or GED required.
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
