Government Affairs Director implements strategic plans and oversees engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with all levels of government authorities that will support and enhance the businesses' goals. Manages teams that build relationships and liaise with government entities(federal, state, provincial, or local) that regulate or influence business activities. Being a Government Affairs Director performs ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends to determine the potential impact on the organization. Collaborates with industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives. Additionally, Government Affairs Director creates communication vehicles and delivers messaging to inform and support business leaders. Requires a bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, business or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Government Affairs Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Government Affairs Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Job Description

    Summary This position is in the Facility Management Service (FMS) at the Boise VA Medical Center. The position has administrative accountability for three Maintenance Mechanic Supervisors in the Operations section of Maintenance, Construction, and Operations (MC&O). The incumbent is under the supervision of the FMS MC&O Manager but works independently in meeting the activities of the Operations branch of MC&O. Responsibilities Major duties include but are not limited to: Leads and directs Maintenance Mechanic Supervisors who supervise one of the three segments of the Operations section of MC&O. The three segments are HVAC/R and Energy Management shop, Plumbing/Pipefitting, Boiler, and Geothermal Heating shop, Electrical, Mechanical, and Grounds Maintenance shop. Coordinates many facets of the work with first line supervisors, mid-level managers, clinical staff, and patient representatives. Assists the shop supervisor in completing tasks and projects within established time frames, all while assuring resources are used in such a way as to produce quality work that meets or exceeds the FMS standards and code requirements. Ensures that FMS customers receive the approved services and products requested. Reviews Preventive Maintenance (PM) requirements on new equipment before it is entered into the PM system. Advises the MC&O Manager as to the appropriate type and level of PM required to maximize the life of equipment. Ensures that established PM's are appropriate to meet the needs of the equipment and ensures that established monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual shop PM's are accomplished. Conducts 30-day reviews of work orders and PM's with the Shop Supervisor and ensures that delays are due to legitimate causes. Provides technical assistance to Project Managers and Designers in preparing specifications. Coordinates with the Shop Supervisor and prepares purchase orders for any contract service required for completion of work orders, PM's, and/or projects.
