Government Affairs Director implements strategic plans and oversees engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with all levels of government authorities that will support and enhance the businesses' goals. Manages teams that build relationships and liaise with government entities(federal, state, provincial, or local) that regulate or influence business activities. Being a Government Affairs Director performs ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends to determine the potential impact on the organization. Collaborates with industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives. Additionally, Government Affairs Director creates communication vehicles and delivers messaging to inform and support business leaders. Requires a bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, business or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Government Affairs Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Government Affairs Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Port Orchard

    Join us as the Pharmacy Technician 1 and support our mission in assuring top-notch pharmaceutical care to our honored Veterans! This position is based in beautiful Port Orchard, Washington and provides resident pharmacy services requirements for our four nursing homes serving Veterans in Port Orchard, Orting, Walla Walla, and Spokane.     Please Note: The shift for this position is 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Incumbent may be required to work overtime as needed to support resident and business needs. Occasional travel required for training or in-person meetings.

    • This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.

    Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

In addition, we provide critical community services through a variety of programs, and at our four State Veterans Homes located in Orting, Port Orchard, Spokane, and Walla Walla. These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to honorably discharged Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.

    As the Pharmacy Technician 1, you will prepare prescriptions from the prescriber's orders, control inventory and medication disposal, and perform documentation functions as required.

    Duties

    Some of what you will enjoy doing:

    • Utilizing computer software to process prescriptions, to include new prescription order entry, refill processing, and billing appropriate entities.
    • Accurately packaging medications in appropriate containers and applying appropriate labeling for resident use.
    • Processing and packaging medications to be placed in E-Kits and prepacking modified unit dose cards for future use.
    • Facilitating the delivery and shipment of completed prescriptions.
    • Accurately maintaining required pharmacy records, to include processing and storage of prescription records, drug wholesaler invoices (including controlled substances), shipment manifests, and other records as needed.
    • In coordination with other pharmacy staff, maintaining inventory at appropriate levels, to include the ordering of controlled substances listed on Schedule II.
    • Receiving and checking in medications orders, returning overstock, and monitoring for and processing outdates.
    • Working with vendor(s) to dispose of expired pharmaceuticals.
    • Ensuring the pharmacy is secure and kept in an orderly and sanitary condition.

    Qualifications

    Required:


    • Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician license.
    Preferred/Desired:
    • Proficiency with Teams, Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft applications.
    • Ability to:
      • Maintain accurate records.
      • Utilize excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
      • Follow technical oral and written instructions.
      • Handle interruptions and prioritize workload.
      • Maintain a positive and professional working environment and team cohort, with co-workers, residents, resident family members, the public, and other professional staff and facility staff.
      • Earn the trust, respect and confidence of residents, coworkers, and customers through consistent honest, forthrightness and professionalism in all interactions with integrity and respect.

    • Must maintain a valid pharmacy technician license from the Washington State Department of Health and completion of required Continuing Education.
    • Must have the ability to lift/push/pull occasionally up to 40 lbs.
    • Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language.
    • Requires use of personal protective equipment as required by the Washington Industrial Safety & Act Standards for pharmacy operations and to perform pharmacy tasks. Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.
    • Must comply with annual tuberculin screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.600 Tuberculosis Testing.
    • Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
    • Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
    • This position is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees.
