Government Affairs Manager implements strategic plans and oversees engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with all levels of government authorities that will support and enhance the businesses' goals. Manages teams that build relationships and liaise with government entities(federal, state, provincial, or local) that regulate or influence business activities. Being a Government Affairs Manager performs ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends to determine the potential impact on the organization. Collaborates with industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives. Service Station - Service Station - SERVICE_CENTER_MANAGER

  • Under the direction of the Purchasing Director, the Service Center Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising maintenance and repair of the county’s fleet of vehicles. This position supervises all service center personnel and is expected to exercise good judgement, independence, initiative, andprofessional expertise inconducting day to day operations. This position is not covered(at-will)as defined by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Prioritizes and tracks maintenance and repair of vehicles to meet performance standards such as turn-around time, downtime, fleet availability and technician accountability.
    Manages major repair details including proper documentation for purchasing requests, communication with sublet vendors, ordering equipment and coordination of department needs.
    Supervises and directs daily functions of shop operations. Signs off when vehicle is completed and ready to be put back in service.

    Supervises technicians, monitoringtheir work and provides assistancewhen necessary.
    Supervises parts personnelin all parts purchases, monitorsand adjustsinventory as needed.
    Performs vehicle fabrication and repairs when necessary.
    Assistsin preparing and requesting bids and quotes as requiredfor parts, equipment, and shop operations.
    Responsible for the County’s GPS program including ordering, installation, and activation of units, reviewing monthly billing, maintainingaccuraterecords, coordinating removal and/or transfer of equipment.

    Reviews and maintainspaperwork for new vehicles and equipment, including warranty informationandscheduling PMs in FASTER.
    Determineswhen to decommission vehicles according to scoring criteria, removes equipment, collects keys, fuel keys/card etc., and assistsin auction related responsibilities.
    Ensures adequate volume is maintainedin the underground fuel tank and there is safe traffic flow around fuel pumps.Orders and schedules fuel delivery to assure proper seasonal blends.
    Maintains accurateand up to date reporting systems, tool and equipment inventoryand replacement schedule as needed.
    Assistspurchasingdirector with annual budget, forecastinggoals and objectivesforservice center and fleet, performance evaluations for shop personnel, etc.

    Manages OSHA and IDEM responsibilities to ensure compliance on a day-to-day basis with State and Federal requirements.
    Works with the Risk Manager regarding vehicle accidents and insurance requirements.
    Meets with vendors and department heads regularly to cultivate good working relationships and resolve repair and part issues.
    Trains new shop employees on departmental guidelines, including work rules, standard operating guidelines, and safety practices.
    Performs all other duties as assigned, available to be on-call 24/7in case of emergency.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Any combination of work experience or academic pursuit equivalent to an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology, supplemented by courses in personnel and business administrationrequired
    Ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience in garage management or related field
    Thorough understanding of mechanical principles and maintenance practices

    Ability to efficiently coordinate the work of the garage to meet the needs of county departments
    Ability to supervise, motivate and train both skilled and unskilled technicians and staff
    Specialized knowledge of the automotive industry, careand operation of automotive vehicles
    Ability to maintainand compile financial and other related business records and reports

    Knowledge of the FASTER fleet management system andNetworkFleetGPS program
    Valid Driver’s License to move, transport and test vehicles
    Strong leadership skillsto direct, supervise and train personnel,while emphasizing compliance with established safety standards
    Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

    DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
    The Service Center Manager performs work that is complex and requires the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Judgment and ingenuity in the planning and layout of work is required to direct the upfitting, repair and maintenance of vehicles while ensuring standard levels are being met. Must be skilled in the use of garage equipment and tools used in mechanical repairs and maintain a professional and safe work environment.

    RESPONSIBILITY:
    The Service Center Manager is responsible for supervising and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, performing diagnostics to repair a wide variety of vehicles. Care and skill are required to protect people, vehicles, equipment, and tools. Work is performed with considerable independence.

    PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
    The Service Center Manager maintains frequent contact with elected officials, county department heads and employees, vendors and other community businesses when providing service to county vehicles and purchasing maintenance materials.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    The Service Center Manager performs duties in a standard garage environment and may be exposed to excessive noise, grease, dirt, and fumes. Frequent lifting of vehicle components and equipment of moderate to heavy weight, bending, pushing/pulling, reaching over head, and kneeling exists. The Service Center Manager may perform work in awkward and/or cramped positions and performs some functions in stooping or crouched positions. Safety precautions must be observed to ensures the safety of self and others.

    SUPERVISION:
    Directly supervises service center personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations' policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting the purchasing director in interviewing, hiring, and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complains and resolving problems.

    LICENSING:
    Valid Driver’s License to move, transport and test vehicles

    Purchasing Director

    HOURS:
    Monday – Friday; 7:00 am - 4:00 pm; ability to be on-call 24/7
