Government Affairs Manager implements strategic plans and oversees engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with all levels of government authorities that will support and enhance the businesses' goals. Manages teams that build relationships and liaise with government entities(federal, state, provincial, or local) that regulate or influence business activities. Being a Government Affairs Manager performs ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends to determine the potential impact on the organization. Collaborates with industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives. Additionally, Government Affairs Manager creates communication vehicles and delivers messaging to inform and support business leaders. Requires a bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, business or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Government Affairs Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Government Affairs Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Purpose:  Responsible for New Business Development via prospecting, qualifying, selling, and closing Bergkamp Inc. equipment and products within the Government sector.

     Essential Functions                                                                                                                                    

    1. Performs direct sales of a full range of Bergkamp Inc. equipment to include prospecting, product presentations, quoting, negotiating, and closing business. 
    2. Provide a consultative solutions sales process to prospects.
    3. Manage client relationship through all phases of sales cycle.
    4. Responsible for client communications, conflict resolution, and compliance on sales deliverables and revenue.
    5. Develop and maintain prospect and customer list based on strategic marketing data and other sources for sales leads.
    6. Responsible for tracking customer information, forecasts, and reports.
    7. Ensures all processes and procedures are completed, quality standards are met, and projects achieve profit expectations.
    8. Presents company capabilities, services, products to individuals and groups in both informal and formal presentations during client meetings, sales calls, trade shows and industry events. 
    9. Identifies new markets within Territory.
    10. Gathers information for current bid opportunities. Prepares and submits responses to bid opportunities.
    11. Prepares recommended bid specifications for government agencies’ use.
    12. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

    1. Associate degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of one to three years government sales experience or other related experience generally required. 
    2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to customers, coworkers, and management.
    3. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, coworkers, and management.
    4. Overnight, domestic travel is required 50% of the time.
    5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, procedure manuals, blueprints (schematics), and job instructions.
    6. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
    7. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
    8. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    9. Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products.
    10. Possess confidence and tenacity.
    11. Ability to use department equipment such as cell phone, computer, copy machine, and fax machine.
    12. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
