Government Affairs Representative supports the implementation of strategic plans and engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with all levels of government authorities to achieve business goals. Liaises with government entities (federal, state, provincial, or local) that regulate or influence business activities. Being a Government Affairs Representative collaborates with industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives. Monitors and analyses proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends and prepare reports and informational documents to inform and support business leaders. Additionally, Government Affairs Representative requires a bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, business or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Government Affairs Representative work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Position Summary
    This recruitment will be used to fill one of ten (10) positions (10-20 hours a week based on position) with the Associated Students of Cascades Campus student government at Oregon State University-Cascades (OSU-Cascades) in Bend, Oregon. The ASCC is an advocate for enabling students to be involved in governing and decision-making of the University Administration and empowering students to actively shape a diverse academic community that best serves their needs and interests. Applications are taken on a rolling basis and the position will close upon hiring.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
    • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
    • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
      • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
      • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
      • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
      • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
      • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*


    • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

    Additional Required Qualifications
    • Undergraduate students: Must be a current student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours. Must be a student in good academic standing. Earned at least six (6) hours of credits in their most recently completed term. Not on conduct probation. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5.
    • Graduate students: Have earned at least five (5) hours of credit in their most recently completed term. Be currently registered for at least five (5) hours. Not be on conduct probation. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
