Case management is essential to carrying out the mandate of the key components of an accountability court. The proper candidate will be able to coordinate a series of inter-related functions that provides needed coordination and seamless collaboration, and is the force that holds the varied and many drug court elements together, ensuring that: (1) clients are linked to relevant and effective services; (2) all service efforts are monitored, connected, and in synchrony; and (3) pertinent information gathered during assessment and monitoring is provided to the entire drug court team in real time. Essentially, case management forms the framework around which the drug court process can credibly and effectively operate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Monitoring defendants placed in the Mental Health Court or other Accountability Court type as they become available. Advising participants of program requirements/conditions. Maintaining records of participants’ residences, employment, etc.
- Collecting and administering urine, saliva, or breath samples for drug/alcohol testing, interprets test results and reports the results to the Court. Reporting violations of compliance and non-compliance to the Court
- Establishing and maintaining participant file until case is either terminated or completed successfully. Entering case information into computerized case management system. Monitoring status of cases throughout the court process. Attends weekly staffing’s and court sessions
- Testifying at court hearings regarding violations, policies, procedures, or other issues
- Performing front office duties including greeting visitors and answering the phone. Updating weekly court spreadsheet regarding participant progress. Verifying weekly community support attendance from each participant to ensure proper documentation. Maintaining up to date log of court-imposed sanctions and ensure compliance
- Maintaining weekly sanctions/incentives/leaves to each participant’s log maintained in the case management system. Reviews participant job verification monthly and update court regarding compliance. Prints certificates for weekly phase moves and graduation
- Communicating with other team members regarding new candidate’s eligibility and interest in the program. Identifies and maintains contact information for local resources (i.e. food banks, DDS, employment, social services)
- Attending workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge
- Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances and requirements, including those pertaining to drug and alcohol treatment and confidentiality
- Assisting Court Administrator in the preparation of court calendars and events to include staffing, Accountability court sessions, team members, and graduation ceremonies, and perform Administrator duties in that persons absence
- Making necessary referrals to external resources and documents attendance
- Utilizes appropriate boundaries and professionalism while working with a diverse population
- Performs other related work as required and to be further defined
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or General Educational Development Certificate (GED)
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major field of study in Criminal Justice, Political Science, Philosophy, Psychology, or related area
- Three years professional related work experience or equivalent
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to answer questions and resolve problems usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Ability and willingness to drive a county vehicle
- Must attain drug testing certification
- Must meet all eligibility requirements established by the Board of Commissioners
- Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol screening as directed
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License (Class C) and satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR)
- Other duty-specific certifications may be required during employment to satisfy specific assigned duties and responsibilities if required by assignment within six months of hire
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of court system and legal processes
- Knowledge of drug and alcohol dependency, casework practices, mental health disorders, dynamics of domestic violence, and similar issues likely to appear in participant population
- Considerable skill in dealing effectively with mental health and substance abuse offender’s behaviors; considerable skill in documenting behaviors and maintaining accurate records;
- Ability to interpret rules and policies for decision-making in accordance with precedent set by Judge
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Skill in compiling, summarizing, and presenting statistical data
- Skill in using computers, standard office equipment, standard software applications, and specialized management systems
- Skill in interpersonal communications in a collaborative format and exercising sound judgment while keeping within current standards and practices
- Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with Accountability Court team members, court participants, other Superior Court personnel, and the public

Employment is contingent upon passing a mandatory Background Investigation, MVR, Medical Exam, and Drug Screening.
Salary: $50,000.00 annually, plus full benefits package
