Government Sales Manager manages and directs a sales force to achieve sales to government agencies. Designs and recommends sales programs and sets short- and long-term sales strategies. Being a Government Sales Manager evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the department's sales volume. May recommend product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential. Additionally, Government Sales Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. This opportunity entails being responsible for assisting HNTB leadership develop relationships with elected leaders, shaping transportation policy, conducting discovery, supporting our clients’ legislative agendas, and becoming a trusted advisors to government officials at the federal, state and local level. This position will be focused on administration of the HNTB Political Action Committee (PAC) and lead a corporate-wide education program designed to increase understanding of laws governing campaign finance, lobbying and gift-giving to elected officials in coordination with outside legal counsel.
What You'll Do:
Administer all aspects of HNTB PAC. Coordinate communication with PAC members. Schedule and organize firmwide PAC events. Work with PAC Champions at office-level events. Organize and facilitate twice yearly PAC Board meetings including preparation of Board materials. Direct design and maintenance of PAC website. Direct production of PAC Annual report. Support corporate and PAC political contribution approval process. Compile election results reports for office holders and transportation-related ballot measures. Lead and coordinate regular calls with outside PAC consultant and legal counsel to achieve PAC goals as established by PAC Board. Ensure compliance of PAC communications with legal requirements in coordination with outside PAC counsel and consultant. Maintain comprehensive database of corporate political giving.
Design and implement education program on political compliance issues, including lobby registration, lobby disclosure, gift-giving, and campaign finance. Schedule training session. Develop content in coordination with outside counsel and government relations leadership. Track and report progress. Suggest process improvements.
Support firm’s government relations function with other duties as may be assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, History or relevant degree.
5 years of experience as a staff member to elected official/PAC administration/ political compliance issue awareness.
What We Prefer:
Detailed understanding of the state legislative process
Detailed understanding of the state administrative processes that govern state transportation programs
Experience working with or for the Florida Department of Transportation's Central Office, District 4 and District 6.
Experience working with local government agencies in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Broward counties
Understanding and ability to successfully influence outcomes using public relations and government relations strategies
Understanding of HNTB’s client organizations
