    Salary

    Salary Range: $51,000- $58,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

    Hours per Week

    Exempt Position: 40 hours per week.

    Essential Functions

    Job Summary

    The Assistant Director of Graduate Student Success serves as a member of a team in the UTSA College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) Student Success Center. Assists with the admission, enrollment, and advising of graduate students and services for COEHD graduate students. Manages student development initiatives for education and human development graduate students. Uses collaboration and influential skills with a variety of College faculty, staff, and UTSA departments to increase student success, support students in academic and professional development, and improves student engagement, persistence, and graduation.

    Duties

    Typical:
    • Develop recruitment and promotion activities aimed at increasing the number of students; improving the quality of entering students, and increasing the diversity of the master's and doctoral students.
    • Work with the Student Development Specialists to streamline the admission process, provide direction and leadership to Student Development Specialists, develop systems to track graduates.
    • Interface and perform various functions with administration, faculty committees, and program coordinators of various masters' and doctoral programs, Admissions and Registrar's Offices, Graduate School, and the Office of International Programs.
    • Organize and coordinate graduate recruitment activities and the promotion of graduate programs.
    • Interpret institutional rules and policies related to admission, reinstatement, and graduation.
    • Manage the hiring, onboarding, training and supervision, of assigned Students Development Specialist staff.
    • Supervise and manage daily operations of projects to optimize direct reports availability and service to students and prospective students.
    • Establish expectations and goals for assigned staff.
    • Participate in professional development activities to ensure professional growth and knowledge needed to provide effective leadership and stay abreast of emerging trends. Participate in various local, state, regional, and national organizations and conferences.
    • Serve on College and University committees and on special projects as requested.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree required; in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Human Resources or other related major
    • Five years progressively responsible management experience; years of experience can be substituted for Master's degree
    • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as record-keeping and filing
    • Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite



    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's Degree preferred
    • Similar experience in higher education



    Working Conditions


    • Requires use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
    • Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.
    • After hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.
    • Occasional after hours and weekend work or overtime may be required

    This position will be primarily located:

    Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
