Grants Administrator administers the financial control processes of grant activity throughout the grant lifecycle for awarded or received grants to ensure compliance with grant provisions, regulations, standards, timelines, and reporting requirements. Monitors grantee management and disbursement of funds and reviews grantee programs for compliance with the terms of grants. Being a Grants Administrator prepares and submits financial reporting and performs accounting tasks related to managing grant funding received. Tracks and reconciles grant account budgets and expenses. Additionally, Grants Administrator submits any additional information or documentation required by the grant funder. Follows grant accounting best practices and complies with legal regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Grants Administrator work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Many local communities rely on the expertise of McGill's Funding Services Team to move their critical infrastructure projects forward. By staying abreast of funding opportunities and providing support services including project development, implementation, monitoring, and administration throughout the lifecycle of a project, our Grant Administrators play a critical role in local communities and their ability to meet the needs of their residents. You will assist project staff in preparation of grant documents including application, supporting documentation, community surveys and assessments and maintain proposal and funding records. You will prepare schedules and special reports, studies and analyses, and may assist in the planning, design, implementation, and support of financial systems, related policies, and processes needed to identify and manage the revenue and expenditures of the project. You will research appropriate federal, state, and local requirements, guidelines, and standards to facilitate compliance by all parties and provide training and technical assistance to clients and project staff to ensure compliance with regulations and grant specific guidelines. Your role also includes ongoing grant administration including submittal of payment requisitions to grant agencies for assigned projects.


    Qualifications

    • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering Management, or a related discipline. Additional certifications or specialized training in grant writing, grants management, or related fields can be advantageous.
    • Knowledge of funding agency policies and procedures, best practices, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to engineering and infrastructure funding a plus.
    • Proposal and grant writing experience required with the ability to prepare research reports and proposals.
    • Strong financial skills to manage budgets, analyze financial data, and ensure proper allocation of awarded funds.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to provide technical advice and information to clients and staff in area of expertise. Ability to collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and funding agencies to ensure successful project implementation.
    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and documentation effectively.
    • Adherence to high ethical standards in managing awarded funds and maintaining integrity in all aspects of funding administration.
    • Willingness to stay updated on industry trends, changes in funding regulations, and professional development opportunities.
    • Flexibility to travel to client sites including overnight travel.
    • Valid driver’s license.
