POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for all nursing care provided to the patient and significant other.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Add at least one problem to the problem list from the information obtained from the assessment and from other healthcare practitioners on inpatient units. Checks off MD orders against Medact and pharmacy orders. Completes or ensures accuracy of medication reconciliation.
2. Provides nursing care as planned on the Medact on inpatient units. Accurately documents care given in the EHR Flowchart according to policy & procedure.
3. Administers ordered medications according to policies and procedures, ensuring the safety of the patient. Maintains →85% medication verification compliance rate.
4. Inserts IV catheters, sets up, hangs, monitors and discontinues IV’s and hangs IV piggy back medications as needed. Documents start and stop times on IVPB, IV pushes and boluses.
5. Provides education to the patient and significant other regarding their needs for care, follow up, disease process, and discharge planning through patient education documents under education tab in EHR.
6. Monitors the patient’s progress and condition, and reports any untoward changes to the physician.
7. Participates as a member of the patient care team, rounding with the physicians as possible, assists with treatments and procedures, exams, and incorporates the patient/significant other’s needs in care.
8. Coordinates and evaluates their care of the patients.
9. Performs necessary training in skills as needed to participate in the Arkansas State requirements for the Arkansas Trauma System, Arkansas Stroke Program, and Arkansas Stemi Program.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor/Director.
Education and Training: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing resulting in the eligibility of sitting for the Registered Nurse exam.
Experience: Prefer at least one year of experience as a RN in an Emergency Department setting.
Licensure, Registration, Certification: Licensed as an RN in the State of Arkansas.
ACLS, ENPC, TNCC, CPR certified
