The UI Specialist brings the Harper College website (harpercollege.edu) to life through the development and continual improvement of innovative digital interfaces and experiences. This position collaborates with multidisciplinary team members and partners across the college to create engaging, impactful and efficient web experiences that are accessible for all users. The UI Specialist is responsible for: 1) advancing the Harper brand standards across digital spaces 2) coordinating the consistent use of design elements, such as colors, typography, spacing, iconography across Harper digital spaces. 3) Developing engaging interactive features. 4) Working with photographers to plan, produce and implement up-to-date photography throughout the website. 5) Contributing to ongoing web accessibility initiatives. Additional responsibilities include:

Educational Requirements: Associate degree with study in web design, graphic design, visual arts, or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience Requirements:

1-3 years of relevant work experience required.

Portfolio of visual work examples required.

Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, CSS required.

Experience working with a digital asset management (DAM) system preferred.

Experience working with a content management system (such as Wordpress) preferrred

Must demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.

Must demonstrate understanding, empathy and respect for the diverse backgrounds, perspectives, abilities, and aspirations of Harper’s user audience.
