Job Summary & Responsibilities Lead UX Designer Onto Innovations is a worldwide leader in the design, development, manufacture and support of defect inspection, advanced packaging lithography, process control metrology, and data analysis systems and software used by semiconductor device manufacturers worldwide. The Company’s expanding portfolio of equipment and software solutions is used in both the wafer processing and final manufacturing of ICs, and in adjacent markets such as FPD, and LED manufacturing. We have a full-time UX Designer Lead opportunity available immediately in our Wilmington, MA location. The primary responsibility of this individual will be focused helping modernize our existing application products used in support of semiconductor manufacturing and yield learning. You will have opportunities to work with experienced teams on projects involving top tier chip makers in the world while they are driving the chip manufacturing process down to nano scale. Responsibilities Create, articulate, and evangelize ONTO’s UX strategy and vision for a best-in-class, end-to-end user experience, translating into an action plan that you drive in collaboration with product, engineering, and other key business leaders. Establishes the design delivery process working in concert with Product Management and Engineering, ensuring consistency in experience and clarity in expectations Lead and own all aspects of a User-Centered Design process including user research, user experience design, visual design, design systems, and general systems thinking. Employ rapid prototyping tactics to deliver and validate ideas with speed and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement high-quality design concepts that achieve our user goals. Designing complex user interfaces rich in information and interactivity by creating visual hierarchy through aesthetic clarity Ensure strong visual design and consistency across features and product lines. Support the completion of a design system: defining product identity, principles and best practices and mapping the to the specific components and patterns that our product will employ. Help shape product strategy, aligning user needs and business goals. Work with partners to develop timelines, product roadmaps and requirements Drive product discovery and participate in research activities to identify user pain points, opportunities etc., and use findings to inform work Get hands on creating customer journeys, conceptual models, wireframes and high-fidelity designs. Work with product and engineering on planning, managing priorities, and potentially staffing. Present your work to stakeholders at all levels in organization, providing rationale for decisions Qualifications What you need to qualify: 10 years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, and UX Research. 5 years of experience building SaaS products in a start-up environment. A strong portfolio of projects demonstrating varied experiences showcasing user experience and interface design proficiency, particularly in complex domains for client and web applications Extensive experience with best-practice interactive design and prototyping tools on windows and web applications. Experience modernizing client applications and leveraging web technologies as appropriate Experience with phased deliveries Deep knowledge of user-centered and human-centered design approaches Track record of setting strategic creative direction at the organizational level, building a culture of design excellence, and using design thinking to inspire teams, navigate internal and external challenges and demonstrate the business value of quality user experiences. A keen sense of aesthetics and the ability to turn complex processes into simple, intuitive, effective user experiences. History of using analytics to justify your hypothesis and measure UX performance, connecting with the market’s customers, and consistently optimizing process and deliverables based on learnings. Can lead effective presentations of research-backed insights, concepts and designs to a variety of audiences including executives. Confident in expressing recommendations based on exemplary UX principles, while also demonstrating an open mind and finding creative ways forward amidst ambiguity.
